22nd August - Day of the National flag of the Russian Federation

22nd August - Day of the National flag of the Russian Federation. With the emblem and hymn, the flag is the state symbol of the country, expresses its force and greatness.

For the first time the white-dark blue-blue flag was lifted by a military ship "Eagle" constructed in 1667 – 1669. And in 1705 Peter I published the Decree according to which the flag should be on all trading ships. In 1896 the Ministry of Justice defined that only white-blue-red colour should be considered definitively as the national. In 1918 tricolour was replaced by a revolutionary-red panel. But in 1991 tricolour again took place among the state symbols.

There are some versions what colours of the Russian flag mean. By one of them, white symbolises nobleness, dark blue - honesty and fidelity, red - boldness, courage and magnanimity.

Looking at the flag, Russians have a feeling of unification and pride for the great state.
