Sevastopol State University and the Science and Technology Centre ‘Granit’ will Cooperate in the Field of High Technology
The Science and Technology Center (STC) of the ‘Granit’ Corporation of ‘Almaz-Antey’ will unite scientists and industrialists of the military and industrial sphere on an integrated platform for the development of innovations. The main task is to launch a number of useful developments and put them into production. This was discussed in a meeting at the STC of the ‘Granit’ Corporation with the participation of the Deputy Head of the Main Department for Research and Technological Support of Advanced Technologies of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Roman Kordyukov, the Director of the Department of Innovations and Advanced Studies of the Ministry of the Russian Federation, Vadim Medvedev and the Rector of Sevastopol State University, Vladimir Nechaev. The parties discussed conducting joint scientific research in the interests of strengthening the country's defense capabilities, creating military, special and dual-purpose products and training personnel for the south of Russia. “The potential of scientific and technical laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art equipment will make it possible for students who are doing practical work to conduct relevant research, and to do practical testing of the results of course works and dissertations”, said Roman Kordyukov. Vladimir Nechaev proposed several areas of cooperation. The main one is the joint activity of Sevastopol State University and ‘Granit’ to create a world-class research and educational centre in Crimea at Sevastopol State University. “I have a proposal to establish collaboration between Sevastopol State University and the STC, where the STC should become part of the Research and Educational Centre in the field of intelligent instrument-making,” said Vladimir Nechaev. The parties noted the engineering direction as the most appropriate, since this function is directly related to the transfer of scientific capabilities, knowledge and competencies to the markets. “We are approaching the complex market for high-tech products and services in this area. Previously, many technologies were imported, we bought them. Now we are changing the paradigm and plan to produce them. We need to produce competitive products and provide competitive services, and this is a challenge to our national science”, said Vadim Medvedev. “The most important result of the national project ‘Science’ is the implementation of developments and new technologies.”
