Scientists From China Are Establishing Contact With Sevastopol State University
Five scientists working at the Institute of Oceanographic Instrument Engineering at the Academy of Sciences (Shandong, China), led by Professor Kong Xiangfeng, head of the research laboratory of key technologies for monitoring the marine environment, visited Sevastopol State University. The participants in the meeting were interested in new developments in the field of oceanological research and instruments for environmental monitoring.

Background: The Shandong Academy of Sciences (SDAS) was founded in 1979. The scientific institution is focused on the research and development of high and new technologies, as well as the development of projects in key areas funded by the Chinese state. The number of its employees is over 2,000 and 825 of them are professional scientific personnel, including experts and specialists at a state level.

"At Sevastopol State University, we are working to create one of the 15 world-class science and education centers, and we are interested that, within the framework of this centre, the university should be able to interact with Chinese colleagues", said Elena Voskresenskaya, deputy director of the Institute of Natural and Engineering Systems.

At the Center for Scientific Research and Technologies at Sevastopol State University, scientists familiarized themselves with archaeological expositions and equipment for underwater research.

"We are developing instruments for environmental monitoring and are very interested in instruments and other new technologies," said Professor Kong Khienfeng.

Also, scientists visited the Research and Educational Centre ‘Perspective Technologies and Materials’ of the Sevastopol State University. The technology of producing cheap nanopowders interested Chinese colleagues from the point of view of the shipbuilding industry.

"This is a great trend that can reduce the cost of building the vessel, increase its autonomy and reduce the hydrodynamic drag of the hull by reducing the weight and dimensions of the vessel. Thus, fuel consumption and, as a result, negative impacts on the environment are also reduced", the Director of the Department of Scientific Research at
Sevastopol State University, Vladimir Gavrish, told the guests.

According to a representative of the Department of International Education and Cooperation of Sevastopol State University, the visit by the Chinese delegation will also facilitate the exchange of teachers and scientists within the framework of academic mobility.
