SPSUACE on Х International festival «Imperial gardens of Russia»

On 9th June, 2017 Х International festival «Imperial gardens of Russia» opened in the Mihajlovsky garden of St.-Petersburg. The St.-Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering is one of the festival participants.

The festival is being held by the Russian museum under the aegis of the St.-Petersburg international cultural forum with support of the Ministry of culture of the Russian Federation and the Government of St.-Petersburg. More than 60 creative associations, organizations and establishments from Russia and from every corner of the world participate in this big action.

This year the festival is called "Avangardens". The avantguard and everything that is connected with it became its theme. A project of SPSUACE with the unusual title "To" is one of the first to be noticed by visitors of the festival: from the first steps on the territory of the Mihajlovsky garden a pavilion of cubic form appears before eyes. Lateral walls of the pavilion are painted in black color reminding spectators a well-known picture of Kazimir Malevich. Two other walls are decorated with natural flowers - quite conformable to spirit of avant-guard violence of paints makes impression of something courageous, strong and impudent, simultaneously reminding that 2017 is a year of ecology in Russia.

Having glanced inside, visitors instantly plunge into an atmosphere of the epoch left long time ago. The pavilion is equipped as a small cinema: under sounds of a suite by George Svidirov «Time, forward!» there are continuously shown black-and-white films. Lectures, master classes, various actions for children and adults are planned during the festival.

Authors of the unusual construction - students and teachers of the chair of design of the architectural environment of SPSUACE. «Our projects can be useful to the city. Recently we won a competition on working out the Concept of an accomplishment of the territory of Aleksandrovsky park. We are ready to benefit» - underlines a senior lecturer of the chair of design of architectural environment Svetlana Borisovna Danilova, one of ideological inspirers and founders of the project "To".

Х International festival «Imperial gardens of Russia» will last till 18th June.
