The exhibition opened within the limits of an official year of science and education of Russia and Great Britain, on the threshold of celebrating Victory Day and anniversary of the St.-Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering

«On the eve of a great holiday of Victory Day we pay a memory tribute to all who defended and protected our Native land. We bow to those who died and who survived in that war. Today we are opening an exhibition of the works created by soldiers from Russia and Great Britain. Both authors were 20 years old when the war began. Both of them took a great interest in drawing and both dreamt to become architects. Both left for the front to defend peace from fascist aggressors, but could keep steadfast to their creative call. We are grateful to the Russian-speaking society of Cambridge and Ksenia Afonina, its president for creating the exposition and for choosing SPSUACE as an exhibition platform», - the rector of SPSUACE Evgeny Ivanovich Rybnov addressed to visitors of the action.

«The exhibition says about parallels, about what we have in common. This is a fine reminder to young generation how to create new joining together», - the Consul general of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in St.-Petersburg Keat Allan underlined in the welcoming speech.

«It is very important for young generation. Touching heritage, the youth can understand a rhythm of that epoch which brought freedom and possibility to live, study, raise children in peace and to look ahead with optimism», - the chairman of the Committee on science and higher school of the Government of St.-Petersburg Andrey Stanislavovich Maksimov told.

The salutatory letter to the organizing committee and visitors of the action from the chairman of the Committee on external relations of St.- Petersburg Evgeny Dmitrievich Grigorjev was read by the pro-rector on study of SPSUACE Irina Robertovna Lugovskaya.
