Museum of Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering was presented with personal stuff and books of V.A. Gastev. The present was made by grand-son of famous scientist and professor Aleksey Yu. Gastev.

Among the presents there was portrait of V.A. Gastev, his students’ books and theoretic works, photos, watch, which professor had been granted by employees of the chair materials resistance (today the chair of mechanics of Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering) and other things, which are of significant historic value.

V.A. Gastev was the first head of the chair of material resistance and worked at the chair, when it was just established. Being a great specialist in reinforced concrete constructions, V.A. Gastev participated in design of approximately twenty big bridges, including Volodarsky bridge in Saint Petersburg, railway bridges near Komsomosk (Amur) and Rybinsk (Volga).

V.A. Gastev is an author of numerous theoretic works, which had a great impact on elasticity theory evolution, stability theory and failure theory.
