Concept of Saint Petersburg development in degree projects of students of Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering

At Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering there takes place the defense of degree projects. Future specialists, bachelors and masters show their knowledge, which they acquired during studies at the university. This year is the 180^th year of degree projects defense: in 1836 first alumni graduated from the College of civil engineers.

As dean of the faculty of architecture, head of the chair of architectural and urban planning heritage, D.Sc. in architecture, professor S.V. Sementsov said main distinctive feature of the graduation thesis in 2016 is the practical use for Saint Petersburg. This year there were defended the following degree projects: “Concept of adaptation of higher education institutions’ buildings for disabled people at the example of Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering and Academy of arts” (T.S. Fridman, supervisor is associate professor of the chair of architectural and urban planning heritage L.L. Kaloshina), “Development of beach areas at the Neva river from Saint Petersburg to Shlisselburg” (A.V.Shishkin, supervisor is associate professor of the chair of urban planning V.A. Nefedov).

Six works were devoted to “grey line” of Saint Petersburg. According to associate professor of the chair of architectural design, D.Sc. in architecture V.K. Linov, the so called “grey line” includes rarely used industrial objects and areas around the historic downtown of Saint Petersburg. Authors of degree projects made a deep analysis of various objects and proposed their optional solutions, which can be interesting for the city.

Head of the chair of design of architectural environment S.V. Bochkareva told about the project of A.I. Kurchatova (supervisor is associate professor of the chair of design of architectural environment P.I. Loshakov), devoted to reconstruction of the interuniversity centre basing at Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering next to Krasnoe selo. Today summer base of the chair of geotechnics is located there. The author proposed to use the are more usefully: to construct an airdrome, a laboratory and academic block, a student hostel.
