Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering participated at the 2nd International youth educational forum “Arctic. Made in Russia”

Since February, 29 till March 06, 2016 at the Seliger lake of Tverskaya region there took place the 2^nd International youth educational forum “Arctic. Made in Russia”. Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering was represented by associate professor of the chair of geotechnics Sergey V. Lanko and student of group VV-3 Gulshat Khamitova.

The forum was aimed at attraction of attention to the problems of the Arctic region and support of scientific and social developments by the young people. To the forum there were invited famous specialists of the oil and gas industry and well-known people such as Artur Chilingarov and Anatoly Vasserman.

Sergey V. Lanko shared his impressions of the forum: “The first what I though was what is the reason for me to participate? However when I was selected, I saw young specialists and scientific workers, who are devoted to their profession and are ready to devote their lives to science. I was lucky to be a member of the team. All of us were from various parts of the country, but all worked within a friendly atmosphere where everyone tried to help, take care and have a common spirit. Within the frame of the forum we were offered to solve a case including a task to develop some gas field in the Kara sea. All of the participants of the forum were very active; there were 150 people as well as representatives of the countries of the Arctic region. Definitely we can say that even today we are working upon the “case”. We are developing strategies of the Arctic region development by a group of specialists of the “Scientific and research center of the Arctic region development”. Some of our idea will be formulated in grant requests.

Me, personally, I got a lot both as a professor and a specialist. Once my student Marina Shopina said “Our generation will shock you once!”. For sure, you made a pleasant surprise to me. Most team members are of the same age as my students, but they perform scientific researches.

After this Forum I proposed to expand the Forum and invite students of the faculties of civil engineering from various higher education institutions (Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering, Tyumen state university of architecture and civil engineering, Moscow state university of civil engineering and etc. Let’s wait for the next forum, develop science and show off!”.
