Students of Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering took part in the video conference about Arctic development

On February 25, 2016 associate professor of the chair of geotechnics, PhD in engineering, S. Lanko and students of the faculty of civil engineering of Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering V. Andreeva, A. Terentyeva, M. Shopina, M. Sagun, E. Korolkova, A. Ponomareva, E. Martynova and V. Polunin participated in the work of the forth Web-conference “Day of Arctic”, which was held in the President library named after B.N. Yeltsin.

Geography of its participants shows the level of the scientific and educational event. In the web conference there participated representatives of the largest higher education institutions, libraries and archives of our country from Murmansk to Vladivostok.

Main topic of the conference was connected with research and development of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, preservation of culture and heritage of the original small-numbered peoples of the North and Siberia, development of innovative arctic technologies, efficient usage of mining resources and construction of companies specializing in oil products cracking in the region.

Territory beyond the Polar circle covers only about 6% of the Earth, but it has over 20% of the unexplored oil and gas. People now about these natural resources for a long, but transfer to full development of the resources has become technically and economically reasonable only recently.
