Exhibition dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the SPbGASU Department of Architectural and Building Structures
An exhibition of books, documents and photo documents dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the foundation of the Department of Architectural and Construction Structures has opened at the SPbGASU Scientific and Technical Library. The exposition introduces books written by the founders of the department: D. I. and G. D. Grimm, V. A. Schreter, V. V. Ewald, N. V. Sultanov, P. Yu. Suzor and other prominent scientists who worked at the department.
Opening the exhibition, the head of the Scientific and Technical Library Irina German noted that the exposition included about 160 books. The library staff tried to select the most momentous, most interesting works created by the department employees over the years of its existence, and prepared a slide show dedicated to the anniversary of the ACS Department.
This fall, we are planning to bring together all those who in one way or another came into contact with our department. Still alive are the people who had worked in the department for more than 40 years. I want to thank the staff of the Scientific and Technical Library for this exhibition. The history of the development of our department will allow us to expedite our progress, and for the young employees of the department it will be easier to work with new generations of students after learning more about the department’s history.
“I’ve been working here for nearly 40 years,” said Dmitry A. Makhov, associate professor at the ACS Department. “Our department is vigorous and energetic; it has great prospects. It is here that students get an understanding of structures and their function.”
“I would like to congratulate the staff and teachers on behalf of the Department of History and Theory of Architecture,” Valery Yu. Mostovich, associate professor of HTA Department, addressed the audience. He recalled that the founder of the ACS Department, G. D. Grimm, was the son of the architect and scientist D. I. Grimm, author of the famous cathedral in Chersoneses, built on the spot where, by the legend, Prince Vladimir was baptized.
Young employees of the department also spoke at the opening. The participants examined books, textbooks, and documents presented at the exhibition.{gallery name="230919 Выставка КАСК"}
