Sevastopol State University and Okeanpribor will Cooperate in the Sphere of Marine Sciences and Technologies
Sevastopol State University has entered into a cooperation agreement with the St. Petersburg company Okeanpribor. The purpose of the agreement is the implementation of scientific and technical projects and research work in the field of marine sciences and technologies. The priority areas of cooperation will be marine instrument-making, aquaculture technologies, and the training of specialists in educational programmes oriented to the interests of this industry. “The sea and the development of the oceans is one of the core topics of Sevastopol State University. This is our strategic direction, and we plan to develop this competency first of all”, said Vladimir Nechaev, the Rector of the Sevastopol University. The university is actively developing, looking for and building mutually beneficial relations with industrial partners. One of the vectors along which the parties intend to build long-term relations is access to complex scientific and technological projects. “We have the opportunity to establish full cooperation. Everything that representatives of the company named as priority areas can really be implemented in Sevastopol. Navigation and communication systems, data processing and transmission, underwater research - here the university will act as an integrator between the relevant scientific organizations: the Marine Hydrophysical Institute and the Institute of Biology of the South Seas to solve a whole range of tasks”, explained the Vice-Rector for Development and Scientific and Innovative Activities, Maxim Evstigneev. The parties also discussed the possibility of cooperation within the framework of a world-class scientific and educational center, which is planned to be created at Sevastopol State University. “There are no scientific and educational centers in Russia within the framework of the national project ‘Science’, that work in the field of marine instrument-making or aquaculture. We are the only institution that occupies this niche area and if the center is created, we will then be able to monopolize this area in Russia”, said Evstigneev.
