“Chair of Peter the Great” by SPbGASU Collective Body to Be Installed in Petrogradsky District

On November 2, 2018 Architecture and Urban Planning Committee of Saint-Petersburg summed up the results of open architecture contest in creation of small architecture forms which symbolize Saint-Petersburg history and culture.

“Chair of Peter the Great” by “Sreda Komforta” collective body from the Department of Architectural Design took the second place. It will be installed in Zeleninsky garden in Petrogradsky District of Saint-Petersburg.

78 projects competed in three categories: “Saint-Petersburg in Literature”, “Petrine Saint-Petersburg” and “Traditions of Leningrad Avantgarde”. Collective bodies from SPbGASU presented five projects which were singled out for particular praise.

In projects rating the contest jury applied the following criteria:

  • Correspondence between the imagery of the project and historical context at the chosen place;
  • Correspondence between the imagery of the project and its plastic solution;
  • Peculiarities of artistic, technical and technological solutions, significant parameters, incorporated materials, size and resistance to damage;
  • Artistic expression of the project;
  • Correspondence between the conceptual design and competition rules.
