The Annual International Scientific Conference ‘Mankind and Nature: Problems of a Globalizing World’ gathered more than 100 scientists from different research organizations including the Institute of Geography of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow State University,Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences and others. Particular attention was paid to socio-natural history based on the intersection of the humanities and natural sciences, studying the interaction and interconnection of natural, social and cultural processes that occurred in past eras, understanding the current state of society and an attempt to foresee the future. "Contemporary contradictions and conflicts within society and in the relationships between mankind and nature have a historical genesis, are rooted in the past and require deep reflection. This is possible as a result of the joint coordinated work done by natural scientists and humanitarian scientists: climatologists, biologists, ecologists, geographers, ethnographers, historians, philologists, mathematicians, economists, sociologists, political scientists, culturologists and psychologists”, said Sylvia Kostowska, a candidate of geographical sciences of the Institute of Geography at the Russian Academy of Sciences. The development of the University in the humanitarian and socio-cultural areas is one of priority: the University realizes the intersection of humanitarian, natural and engineering directions. "The post-industrial era is a world where any idea and education must be compatible with nature, then the junction of the humanities of natural and engineering sciences will give a whole new set of technologies", said Maxim Yevstigneyev, vice-rector for scientific work and innovative activity at Sevastopol State University. Within the framework of the conference the 3rd International Interdisciplinary Conference ‘Man And Nature Before The Challenges Of Globalization’ was held. “The conference aroused great audience interest therefore it was decided to hold it annually at our university at the Department of Digital Ecology", said the head of the department, Tatyana Andreenko.
