8th February - Russian Science Day

8th February is the Day of Russian Science. This day, on 8th February, (on 24th January, o.s.) 1724 there was a decree about founding the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Our country has presented many outstanding scientists to the mankind. Michael Vasilevich Lomonosov, Dmitry Ivanovich Mendeleev, Konstantin Eduardovich Tsiolkovsky, Sergey Pavlovich Korolev - these names are well-known in the world. Modern Russian scientists continue traditions of the past, working hard for progress, doing discoveries, capable to change our life to the best.

At various times brilliant engineers, inventors, architects worked and imparted their knowledge to young generation at the St.-Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering- you can read about them on site pages of the University.
