SPbGASU at International Forum ‘Architecture, Design and Art at North Caucasus’

On December 6-7, International forum ‘Architecture, Design and Art at North Caucasus’ was held in Grozny (Chechen Republic). Konstantin Kolodin, Associate Professor from the Department of Architecture Engineering, and postgraduate student M. Gavrilov represented SPbGASU.
The schedule of the forum included topical plenary meetings, exhibitions, contests and workshops. The participants had a chance to learn about the best practices in Architecture, Design and Art at North Caucasus being a part of Russian culture. The guests also had city excursions where they could see restored buildings and those which were in construction at the moment.
Gavrilov presented a co-authored (with Konstantin Kolodin) survey ‘Peculiarities of Form Making of Novgorod Oblast Service Objects’. The survey covered the issues of building typology. M. Gavrilov: ‘We suggested creation of new public objects and urban planning concepts taking into account economic and migration conditions.’ As examples they showed some student projects. A house with pottery is supposed to be relocated next to the most visited places of the town: ‘Manor of Medieval Staraya Russa Citizen’ and ‘Staraya Russa Health Resort’, so it would enrich the tourist route. A house with light aviation airfield in Demyansk is designed from the ground up to construct light aviation route network in the future.
