II Russian-American Geotechnical Symposium in SPSUACE

On 17 - 18th May, 2018 the second part of II Russian-American Geotechnical Symposium was held in the St.-Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering. About Symposium opening it was informed in news from 18.05.2018

Within two days participants of the Symposium heard 20 reports on actual for Russia and the USA problems of mechanics of subsoil, geotechnology and foundation engineering, there were considered building questions in difficult engineering-geological conditions, computational simulation, new geotechnologies, etc.

By results of the work, the heads of the delegations professor V.A.Ilyichev and professor Jean-Louis Briaud signed a three-year agreement on the further cooperation of national societies on geotechnology of Russia and the USA.

For participants of the American delegation there were organized technical excursions on objects of the underground construction objects of St.-Petersburg, an excursion around the city, site visit of objects of complex protection of St.-Petersburg from flooding in Kronstadt.

By words of D. Sc. in engineering, professor, a member of the Presidium of the Russian society on the mechanics of subsoil, geotechnology and foundation engineering, a member-correspondent of Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences, the vice-president of the scientific council RAACS on geotechnology, the head of the department of geotechnics R.A.Mangushev, the symposium became an important step on an interaction way between two geotechnical societies. Leaders of geotechnology of two countries met to discuss questions of foundation engineering and engineering geology.
